Who I Am
As a young girl, experiencing the wide open spaces of Wyoming for the first time became the catalyst for me to venture away from a traditional path and onto a lifelong journey of creativity. In hearing songs such as “Rocky Mountain High” and “Cowgirl in the Sand”, I sensed melody and mountain life intertwining. From there, I tapped into an enduring source of inspiration, imagining a collision between the old and modern worlds. I credit my grandfather for introducing me to the solace of mountain life and the music of Marty Robbins and Glen Campbell, and my father, likewise, for teaching me the fundamentals of songwriting. I call upon my Southern California upbringing as well, where I was steeped in the classic rock catalogue of The Byrds, Fleetwood Mac, and The Eagles. My debut single, “Unfolded Lies”, is an ode to the haunting spirit of Western America and pays homage to those classic rock soundscapes while reflecting on personal crucibles related to betrayal. Lyrics such as “I have been tested by the callings of a cowboy’s life” and “It’s like I’ve ingested your spirit, it’s as cold as ice” exemplify my experience with heartbreak, as well as my exposure to nature. As my music continues to evolve, so do my abilities to evoke dynamic worldbuilding while exploring loss and triumph in the vein of Sheryl Crow and Kacey Musgraves, tinged throughout with undertones of an era gone by.
